Privacy Notice

It is Appliance Traders Limited's (the “Company”) policy to respect and protect the privacy of our customers and the users of www.atljamaica.com and other websites owned or controlled by the Company  (collectively, the "Sites"). Through this Privacy Notice, we want to reassure users of the Site that we will not sell, share, or rent user information to others in a manner different than as outlined in this Privacy Notice. By accessing this Site, you agree to be bound by the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Notice, please do not use this Site. Each time you use the Site, the current version of the Privacy Notice will apply. Accordingly, when you use the Site, you should check the date of this Notice (which appears at the top) and review any changes since the last version.

DATA COVERED BY THIS PRIVACY NOTICE

This Privacy Notice describes the privacy practices of the Company for Data that we collect:

• through the Sites;
• through the software applications on the Sites (including automated tools and chat functionalities) for use on or through computers and mobile devices (collectively, our Apps);
• through our social media pages that we control from which you have accessed this Privacy Notice (collectively, our Social Media Pages);
• through email messages that we send you that link to this Privacy Notice and through your communications with us online or in person;
• from third parties such as Authorized Sales Agents, and Affiliates, and Other Sources, such as public databases, marketing partners, and other third parties; and
• when you participate in any sweepstakes, enrol in our clubs or engage us for services such as gift registries.

THE DATA WE COLLECT

At touchpoints throughout your customer journey, we collect Personal Data in accordance with the law, and to provide you with exemplary services. Personal Data is information that may identify you as an individual or relate to you as an identifiable individual. We collect and process the following types of Personal Data about you:

General Identifying Information

Including full name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, social media account ID, and other data made publicly available, or as well as data made available when the Website is accessed through links from your social media accounts, or other similar identifiers. It may also include any other personal or preference information you provide to us. It may also include information you submit about other people, for example, the name and address of a gift recipient.

Demographic Information and Important Dates

Including language preferences, nationality, or special occasions.

Government-Issued Identification

Including passport, visa, or other government-issued identification (and the Personal Data contained therein).

Financial Information

Including credit, debit, or other payment data.

We may also collect information about your "Experience Preferences" that we use to make your current and future experiences with us more enjoyable, including information about your interests and other relevant information that we learn about you throughout our business engagement. This may also include any likes and dislikes about our services so that we can improve our services.

If you submit any Personal Data about other people to us or our Service Providers (e.g., if you make a purchase for delivery to another individual), you represent that you have the authority to do so and you permit us to use the data in accordance with this Privacy Notice.

IP Address

We also collect your IP address, a number that is automatically assigned to the device that you are using by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). An IP address is identified and logged automatically in our server log files when a user accesses the Sites, along with the time of the visit and the pages that were visited. We use IP addresses to calculate usage levels, diagnose server problems and administer the Online Services. We also may derive your approximate location from your IP address.

We will never request your password, username, credit card information or other personal information through e-mail. This practice, called "phishing", is a scam designed to steal your personal information. If you receive an e-mail that looks like it is from us asking you for your personal information, do not respond.

Information from Other Sources

We may receive information about you from other sources. This may help improve the personalization of our service to you by providing better product recommendations or special offers that we think will interest you.

Automatic Information

We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with our website. For example, we use "cookies" like many other websites. Through "cookies" we obtain information when your web browser accesses our website (see "What are 'Cookies' and how do we use them?" section below for details). There are utilities designed to help you visit websites anonymously. Although we cannot provide you with a personalized experience or certain services at our website if we cannot recognize you, we want you to be aware that these tools exist.

What are "Cookies" and how do we use them?

Cookies are files that we transfer to your computer's hard drive through your web browser that help us to identify you each time you visit our Site.

The "help" portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie or how to disable cookies altogether. However, cookies allow you to take full advantage of some of our website's best features, so we recommend that you leave them turned on.

Cookies allow us to provide features such as purchasing and storage of items in your Cart between visits. In order to provide the best user experience possible, we also use cookies for reporting and analysis purposes such as how users are shopping our website, performance of our marketing efforts and your response to those marketing efforts, and the delivery of relevant marketing messages to each user (Targeted Advertising).

We may also use cookies to manage Appliance Traders Limited banner advertisements displayed on other websites across the Internet. For more information on how to manage cookies and to opt out of cookie tracking, click here.

Does our website share the information it receives?

Protection of Our Website and Others

We may disclose information you provide to our website when we believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law, to enforce or apply our Conditions of Use and other agreements, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our website, our users or others.

Business Transfers

If some or all of the business assets of our website are sold or transferred, we generally would transfer the corresponding information regarding our users. We also may retain a copy of that user’s information.

What choices do I have?

E-Mails

If you provide our website with your e-mail address, you may receive e-mails from us. If you do not want to receive marketing or promotional e-mails from us, please click here. You may still receive select e-mails from us if you have requested them through one of our site services such as eNewsletters, Weekly Ad Reminders, Gift Reminders, or Available to Order Notifications. You can discontinue these e-mails by cancelling your subscription to these services.

What about links to and from other websites?

Our website may offer links to other sites. Other sites have their own policies regarding privacy. If you visit one of these sites, you should review the privacy policy on that site. In addition, you may have linked to our website through another site. For example, in certain cases you may have linked to Target.com through banner advertising on another site. In such cases the site you linked from may collect information from people who click on the banner or link. You should refer to the privacy notices on those sites to see how they collect and use this information.

Children

We recognise the particular importance of protecting privacy where children are involved. We are committed to protecting children's privacy on the Internet. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 18. If a child has provided our website with personally identifiable information, we ask that a parent or guardian call or contact us.

Your Consent

By using our Site, you consent to our use of information that is collected or submitted as described in this online privacy notice. We may change or add to this privacy notice so we encourage you to review it periodically.

Security

Secure Sockets Layering (SSL)

Our website uses Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) to encrypt your personal credit information, including your credit card number, before it travels over the Internet. SSL technology is the industry standard for secure online transactions. Because we use SSL, placing an order online at our website is safer than giving your credit card number over the phone.

Warning about Fraudulent E-mails

"Phishing" is a scam designed to steal your personal information. If you receive an e-mail that looks like it is from us asking you for your personal information, do not respond. We will never request your password, username, credit card information or other personal information through e-mail.

Customer Survey

In conducting our customer survey, the Company is dedicated to safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of all participant information. We gather survey responses solely for the purpose of enhancing our products, services, and overall customer experience. Some surveys have been developed using Microsoft software, thus survey responses are shared via that platform. However, all data collected will be utilized strictly for internal purposes and will not be disclosed to any third parties without explicit consent, except where mandated by law. We implement industry-standard security measures to uphold the integrity and confidentiality of the collected information. Participation in the survey is voluntary, and by engaging in it, participants acknowledge and consent to the collection, use, and processing of their survey responses as outlined herein.
